The community showed tremendous enthusiasm during our World Earth Day celebration on April 20th. The event was a delightful gathering of families and friends in the garden, where they were treated to music by volunteer DJs Joey Jam and Johnny. The garden buzzed with various activities, attracting many participants.

A standout feature was our new “Guiding Spirit Organic Garden” sign, creatively hand-painted by Rachel Tang, a talented student from the University of South Florida and a proud member of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc. Her artistic contributions added a personal and vibrant touch to the garden’s entrance, welcoming all visitors.

The rock painting station was particularly popular, with every rock being painted and leaving the table messily colorful—an added bonus as it was slated for repainting.

Attendees also took great joy in creating their own window herb gardens and exploring the essential oil station, where they crafted unique aromatic scents. This station was notably the most fragrant area of the garden.

Freshly harvested greens and tomatoes from our garden were used to make a scrumptious salad, complemented by delightful cupcakes.

For the adventurous, the Florida native plant scavenger hunt provided a fun challenge, culminating in an Earth Day pin as a reward for their efforts.

Everyone was thrilled to see the progression of the vision for the garden, especially the natural spaces with native plants.
